16.01 we drove via Blenheim to Picton, to pic up a Packet from Amazon that arrived in our old Hostel. Lunch in Picton and waiting for the Ferry. With one hour delay we finally started to Wellington. But we still saw a beautiful sunset over the Fjord. 3:30 hours later we arrived. We continued driving for maybe 1 hour before we was so tiered that we parked on a free camp. Yesterday we drove 3 more hours to Hastings where we met a very friendly woman who give us the Job and a Place to live for small money. For around two weeks we have a hold house for us! :) Today we had a meeting with the boss in the nursery where we work from Monday. Everything sound already much better than the last job. Hopefully for a bit longer now... we start on Monday at 0700. After the meeting we drove to Napier where Janina showed me a bit of the old city and later we made some groceries. Tomorrow we are invited to a free BBQ from the Lady that give us the room. 18 01.19

on the 03.02 I had my first flight hour to get the new Zealand private pilot validation! Nice flying a C172 SP for just 220 dollar with teacher. I can enjoy flying even more with that. We made a couple of safety maneuver over cape kindappers. New Zealand from the top will be sooo nice. Time to think about my skydive license too! :D on the 06 of February we went to the Ocean Spa in Napier. Chill out in a 32C pool with ocean few is really nice. The day was one of the first cold days since a long time... overcast and 17C. Our Salsa course since 3 weeks is going well. On every Friday's is a salsa Party in Hastings, we try to go as often as we can. The work in the nursery is really good. Hard work but our supervisor is really nice and he take care of us. We work around 50-56 hours a week so we got good money. We started with tie new apple trees. Hard for the back in the first days but its ok. Even for me with my back problem. Weekend from 16-17.02 was the Art decor Festival in Napier with hundreds of old cars from the 1920s to 1950s and everybody got dressed up like 1920. Old planes from the second world war was flying a nice show over the Beach. We meet some friends from work and had a nice BBQ in the evening. 17.02.2019

Its getting cold in the night already and the days getting shorter. On the weekend we planned our trip around the South island. Two months to see al the nice spots before we return to Hawks Bay and the nursery where we work. We will start at the 06 of April. Heading far south and coming slowly back to the north. That will be a awesome trip. I'm getting excited!

on Thursday the 21.03 we drove to Raetihi to make one of the great walks. The whanganui River Journey with a canoe. 4 Days in the wildness of New Zealand, living with the minimum, in the Nature. On Thursday we arrived in the camp from where we started our trip with the canoe. We meet our friends from Blenheim to make the trip together. We packed everything in barrels that our stuff is not swimming around in case we tip over. A few beer and early dinner because we have to get up early.

Friday 22.03 we woke up at 0630 the guy brought us the the river at 0830, it was a 1 hour 30 min drive to Ohinepane, where we started. Our first day is around 6 hours of paddling... some first rapids and stones in the water showed us that it will be not that easy. We arrived in Whakahoro around 1800. we set our tents up and made our dinner. The camp have a nice few over the river. Last time before we get in the national park for the next two days without any roads or ways out. Just the river and our canoes.

Saturday 23.03 after a wet first night we had early breakfast, this was our longest day for paddling on this trip. Around 6 hours and 30 minutes paddling with one lunch break. We was faster than expected and reached our camp at 1730. this time it was quit full. Nearly all the people make just the 3 days trip.

Sunday 24.03. main attraction is the bridge to nowhere. 2 hours paddling and than 45 minutes walk to the bridge. a concrete bridge in the middle of nowhere. 40 meter high. Same way back and 1 hour 30 minutes later at the camp with a shower! We are lucky not so much people on the camp and the camp manager let us sleep in one of the huts. Finally our cloths and tent can dry a bit.

Monday 25.03 the shortest and most challenges day. Only 4 hours to the pic up point but we got the strongest rapids on the way. One of the last is finally our ticket for a refreshing swim :D

one big wave brought so much water in the canoe that we already sunk but a last small wave finally pushed us over and turned the the canoe upside down. Quick swim to the side. Water out and back on the river. Only 15 minutes later we arrived our destination Pipiriki. From there its half an hour drive back to the Camp where we started on Thursday morning. This time we drove back via Taupo to have a nice Burger for dinner and a stunning few to Tongario Natioal Park.

That was a beautiful journey. 4 days in the wildnis of New Zealand without phone. We enjoyed the silence along the river and mother Nature.
