Morocco Surf-camp 2024-2025
on the 21.12. We drove in the afternoon to Frankfurt Hahn Airport. took us around two and a half hours. Once we arrived we parked the car in a spot where we didn’t need to pay due to the Airport belonging to the same company I work for. Hahn Airport is quite small. We dropped our bags off and had to stay quite long in the security queue because there was only one security check open but I think 3-4 planes were leaving at the same time… at the end our flight was delayed by around two hours. We departed more than 2 hours later and the pilots didn’t speed up so we also arrived two hours later in Marrakesh. We had booked a bus to Agadir at 1am at night but we just missed it. The next bus was leaving at 7am in the morning so we had to stay 6 hours in the bus station. It was very cold and uncomfortable. We tried to sleep a bit from time to time. At 7 am we took the next bus to Agadir. It was finally a bit warmer and the bus was empty so that we could sleep a bit on the 3 hour ride. From time to time we watch the Atlas Mountains drive by. in Agadir we got picked up by a guy from our Hostel. We had a beautiful room with an ocean view. We were sleeping again for a bit before we walked around the area and had dinner on the roof top in the evening. early bed time since we started surfing the day after.
21-22.12.2024
We woke up early and had breakfast with all other people from the Hostel on the Rooftop. We packed some for lunch and got in our surfing group. We drove to the Beach and had our first Surf lesson. At midday we had lunch at the beach and relaxed before we all drove back to the Hostel. A bit relaxing on the roof and Dinner with all on the Rooftop, from here we had a beautiful Sunset view.

On the second day of Surfing Janina and I got in different groups. Our group had only 5 people with me and we went to a different beach than the first day. After returning to the Hostel we relaxed for the rest of the day. Surfing is exhausting. We nearly forgot that it was Christmas since they don’t celebrate it in Morocco.
24.12.2024
On the third day we went again quite early for the Surfing and returned by midday. We had booked the shuttle from the Hostel for a trip to Agadir Marketed. Janina felt pretty sick and exhausted that she finally stayed in the Hostel and I went with a few others from the Hostel alone. The Market was a Hugh Hall with a lot of small shops quite often with the same stuff. We had some fresh fruits and juice. We stopped outside the market at a restaurant and had a really cheap burger and fries. When we returned to the Hostel Janina already felt better.
For dinner we went to a small restaurant around the corner. Tanjine is a typical Morocco plate.

On the fourth day my surf instructor Mohamed gave me a smaller Surfboard, he thinks I'm ready for the next level. The smaller board is harder to handle but also more flexible.
In the evening we met up with a few people from our Surfing groups and went to a restaurant where we all had dinner together. What a nice evening.
26.12.2024
Today we spent time with nearly all groups together at the same beach. I finally could be in the water with Janina and we were able to “surf together”. at the beach where we stayed are some restaurants and at lunch time we went to get some food here with Yvonne and Christian. We took a taxi to return to the Hostel later before we drove nearly 1 hour to some Sand dunes at the ocean where we could do some sand boarding and watched a beautiful sunset. At some point the police came and told us to leave and we were not allowed to do our planned bonfire… even after our guide paid a lot of cash to the police… and one hour later we arrived back at the hostel.

I went out to the beach with Janina and left my Surfboard at home. I'm so exhausted and my body is telling me to stop surfing, even if I just did it every day for approximately 2 hours maximum. I enjoyed watching the others and relaxed in the sun for some time. We stayed quite long at the beach. In the evening our surf instructor brought us, Moritz, Franziska, Janina and I to his favorite restaurant in a small village close by called “ banana town”. We had delicious food for a very cheap price.The place didn’t looked that good at the beginning but it was really nice food. In the evening we played cards and said goodbye since they left super early the next morning.

On our last day in Taghazout we could sleep a bit longer since the bus to Marrakesh left around midday. We drove back 3 hours to Marrakesh with few of the Atlas Mountains. In Marrakesh we had to walk through the Medina (super Busy marked with lots of very small streets and directions changes) since our Hostel was located in the middle of the center. The room is dark and tiny. Two weird girls stayed with us in the room. In the evening we walked a bit around the Medina before we played cards in the Hostel restaurant where we also had dinner. In Marrakesh it's colder than in Taghazout unfortunately.
29.12.2024
After breakfast we walked around the center before we took a bus to an Argan oil Farm in the desert. It was pretty Touristic stuff but was alright since there was no other option to do stuff like this. from the Oil farm we continued to a place where everyone could do some camel riding. We just enjoyed the view into the mountains and the desert before we all got a Tianjin and some dessert for dinner. Since everything was outside and the sun came down it turned quite cold. At the end they had a fire show with music we watched before the bus brought us back to town and we went to bed.

On the last day of 2024 we took a small tourist bus into the Atlas Mountains. We stopped in a small village. From here we walked up to a little waterfall. On the way were some small shops with carpets and self made clothes. Back in the village we had Lunch in a nice restaurant with a beautiful view into the mountain. On the way back we stopped for some camel riding but we didn't go for it again. We enjoyed the view and some tea. Back in Marrakesh we stayed in the Hostel, played some cards until midnight. We wished us Happy New Year on the rooftop and went to bed.

On the First day of 2025 we started with a delicious breakfast at the main market. Thereafter we enjoyed the good weather and went to the Palace. walked around the Medina and had some other delicious food before we later that day changed the Hostel to a small room accommodation since the two girls are pretty annoying and the room in the old Hostel was pretty cold and dark. For dinner we had burgers and fries on a rooftop bar.

We woke up very early and took a ride into the desert where we had booked a balloon ride. We already saw the first group taking off when we arrived. After some waiting they drove with us in a small group to the landing place of the balloon where we changed passengers and we took off into the clear blue sky. The English pilots explained some stuff and we had a stunning view over Marrakesh and the Atlas Mountains. After around 40 minutes we landed on a field and we were picked up by our driver who brought us back to the Main Balloon Company place where we had a big buffet breakfast outside in the Sun. Back in Marrakesh we relaxed a bit and visited a very old Koran school. For dinner we went into a fancy rooftop restaurant at the main Market where we watched the Sunset.
02.01.2025
On our last day we started with a relaxed breakfast in our accommodation. We packed our bags and could store them at the place. We walked one last time around the park and the Medina, bought some souvenirs and had a nice lunch. Then we picked our bags up and walked the 6km to the Airport since we still had quite some time. at the airport we waited quite long before they even announced that our flight was again delayed by around 1 to 2 hours… We finally took off close to midnight. I tried to sleep and we arrived with more than two hours delay at 3am back in Frankfurt Hahn. It had snowed the last few days and we had to clear the car from quite some snow. Janina slept on the ride back. Finally at 5am we arrived home and we fell asleep immediately.
